New Warhammer Preview

Well, it has been a while since the last edition. The New Warhammer has Dwarves and Goblins in it. I personally like the current (6th?) edition but will probably be forced to upgrade once all the club players get this.

More pictures here, just scroll down a bit.

The jury is out until I see what the changes are, but at least its not got humans in the basic box. I can see a lot of cheap Dwarves appearing on ebay within 12 months of its release. :-)

New Warhammer 40,000 RPG, Same Old Games Workshop

Don't get me wrong, I am as excited as the next person (which happens to be, at the time of typing, a stuffed toy) about the New W40k RPG, but having managed to stop hyperventilating about just how much I've been waiting for something like this to come along, I read the press release a little more closely.
"After this basic game, two further games released eighteen months apart will allow the players to progress and explore the universe first as Rogue Traders and alien pirates, and eventually experienced players will be able to roleplay the devastating warriors of the Adeptus Astartes Deathwatch."

As much as I love the idea of a roleplaying game set in the "grim darkness of the forty first millennium", I do not particularly like the idea of having to purchase three seperate games for something that I feel should be included all in one book. It seems that Games Workshop is willing to branch out into (hardly) new ground, but isn't willing to change the amount of money people are going to have to fork out to use their products. In an ideal world, everyone will vote with their feet and wallets by refusing to buy the product. I will see you all in the queue to buy the first of the three rulebooks.

New Warhammer 40,000 RPG announced

If there is any one game could possibly get me roleplaying again (given that the new WFRP failed although it does look very well done), it's this. Using the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay core rules, but adapted for one of the best realised gothic sci-fi backgrounds out there. Let's face it, it's more OTT that Dune, and better realised with better internal consistency.

Always have liked the 40K background a lot more than I like the mechanics of the battlegame. Then again, the battlegame is good.

New Big Mek and Sniper Scouts previewed

German fansite GW Fanworld has preview pictures of the new Big Mek (oh, and also the new Marine Scout snipers, for those that like Marines). All I have to say is Waaaargh! Sorry, will calm down now. Always did have a soft spot for the orkses, and they do look nice...
